GROUPETAURUS · Data & cloud

Share your files.
Choose where they are hosted.

Scattered files, a full server or colleagues working across locations: hosting needs to fit the way your organisation operates. We help you compare options, organise access and prepare a migration that can be checked, with an approach suited to your connection and operating budget.

Data & cloud

What needs to work better.

Start with the information people need, how sensitive it is and how long the business can operate without it. These questions shape the architecture before a hosting platform is selected.

01

Share without multiplying copies

The same document travels through email, USB drives and personal computers. Establish the reference version, editing permissions and retention rules before deciding where the files should be stored.

02

Work across locations

Head office and field locations may have very different bandwidth. Offline work, synchronisation and transfer volumes belong in the architecture, alongside servers and storage. These conditions should be tested with the actual connection.

03

Prepare for growth

An application becomes slow or its storage is nearly full. We review volumes, backups and dependencies to decide what needs to move, what needs more capacity and what can remain in place.

Public, private or hybrid: choose for the work.

Public cloud

A provider supplies resources shared between customers with logical separation. This does not mean your data is public. Identities, hosting region, network access and consumption monitoring still need to be configured for your organisation.

Private cloud

The environment is dedicated to one organisation, on its premises or with a hosting operator. It may meet control or integration requirements, while requiring clear ownership of operations, maintenance and eventual equipment replacement.

Hybrid architecture

Some data or applications stay on site while others are hosted elsewhere. Connections, identities and monitoring must work together. Hybrid architecture is useful when this added complexity brings a practical benefit to the way the business operates.

Compare the provider and the service layer.

AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud are technical options to assess against required services, available regions, operating skills and billing. IaaS supplies infrastructure resources; PaaS provides a managed application platform; SaaS is software used as a service. Responsibilities change with the service selected. We compare features, hosting regions and contract terms against your operational needs. Provider costs and exit arrangements need to be reviewed before a decision.

DELIVERY

From the need to daily operation.

  1. 01

    Take inventory

Record applications, data owners, volumes, accounts, connections and existing contracts. Identify critical processing and the constraints that require approval from your organisation before any migration can start.

  2. 02

    Design and compare

Document two useful scenarios, estimated operating costs, responsibilities and exit arrangements. Set out permissions, backups, logs and consumption rules before transferring information into the target environment.

  3. 03

    Migrate a pilot scope

Test an agreed data set, check permissions and measure transfers. Plan a cutover window and a rollback procedure that remain compatible with the daily operation of the business.

  4. 04

    Check and hand over

Verify transferred files or records, test a restoration and hand over operating procedures. The nominated client owner retains control of administrator accounts and decisions about access.

ILLUSTRATIVE SCENARIO

One office and two branches need to share their files.

Example scenario. Teams use local copies and spend time finding the latest version. A first set of non-sensitive folders becomes the pilot: named owners, a common filing structure, role-based access and a synchronisation trial using the branches’ connection. Acceptance checks cover finding a document, authorised access and restoring a deleted file. Expanding to other folders depends on pilot results, internal approvals and observed connectivity. Any improvement is assessed after these checks, using agreed measures.

DELIVERABLES

What the engagement can deliver.

The proposal confirms selected deliverables and their acceptance criteria.

  • Inventory of the selected data and applications, including their owners.
  • Architecture diagram, access matrix and division of operational responsibilities.
  • Migration plan, acceptance criteria and a documented rollback procedure.
  • Backup configuration and a record of the agreed restoration test.
  • Operating instructions, consumption monitoring and identified points to watch.

A sequence to agree together.

  1. Scoping · 1–2 weeks

Inventory, constraints, decisions and required access.

  2. Design · 1–2 weeks

Compare scenarios and approve the architecture.

  3. Pilot · 2–4 weeks

    Limited migration, testing and adjustments.

  4. Cutover · in batches

Scheduled transfers, checks and procedural handover.

Indicative planning, without a delivery commitment. Timing depends on scope, access, approvals, procurement and team availability. Stages may overlap.

What affects the quotation.

Data volume, user and location counts, applications to move, connection quality and availability requirements affect the quotation. Subscriptions, transfers, licences and ongoing operations are separated from the initial project. Any cleanup or recovery of older data is scoped separately, including its assumptions and acceptance checks.

Practical questions.

Does everything need to move to the cloud?

No. The review may recommend keeping an application on site, moving documents only or using a managed service. The decision should remain understandable and reversible, with a tested way to export the data.

Who protects hosted data?

The provider and your organisation each have responsibilities. Identities, permissions, data and parts of configuration still need an owner. The exact boundary depends on the selected services and the applicable contracts, rather than the word cloud alone.
